African violet feed

Postby Ladybird5 » September 2nd, 2012, 12:57 am

Hello
I'm new to the forum and just getting started with African violets

I bought Vitax African Violet feed by mail order and when it arrived the bottom of the container was split from one side to the other. No leaks so I taped it up. However, I opened it today and the texture of the product is just like soft brown sugar ie moist and it can be squeezed and stuck together. Is this how it should be? I'd thought it would have been very small, dry crystals.

The scoop is tiny and there's enough for hundreds of plants!

Any one able to advise please

Thanks

Pat

Hi, Ladybird5!
I am using Vitax for african violet. Yes, it must be like crystals. But I think you can use yours, don't think it can damage if it is a little bit wet. You can try to dry it, and it will become again like crystals.

Ladybird,
Vitax is brownish, but it should be completly dry. Maybe because of the split the cotainer is not isolated properly from water.
