We had a big snow also this week. Now it's raining all the time. Everything is under water... so I think the prices of the vegetables and crops will be very high this year.

That's funny. Isn't BBC a European Broadcasting channel? Maybe they should check at least the Wikipedia :)

It's becoming a mess in the kohlerias thanks to me. Please, fix it. I'm talking about the topics Kohleria hirsuta var. hirsuta and Kerstin. It must be opened a new topic Kohleria eriantha hybrid and to be moved in it the last 2 replies from the first topic and the whole second except the last post.

Well, ok. It didn't turn as I've imagined but at least I didn't lost the semantic consistency of the posts...a lot. :D

There is very little information about these events on the news. It seems that everything is settled down - at least, this is the feeling that is inducted to us on the news.

On most forums political content is not allowed. No matter how we are taking care of you, the forum should remain for the violets. We cannot post about politics and such things on our forum, to keep it in it's way as it was before.

I was a bit away this forum. Since I have a very buisy period recently. The workload is huge recently and started to learn webdesign. I hope I will have more and more time to spend on this forum and also have plans with the forum :-)

Now I'm going to donate some Euros to Diana, because she needed to extend the domain. If you also would like to donate some amount you can ask her Paypal address.

Hello friends,

I am still alive - was too busy the past months and also have to confess that I was quite frustrated with my plants. Last year was a hard year, first cold until end of May, then in summer hot for several weeks - in fact, too hot for my plants. I live right in the City Center and the heat was too much for my plants. They were suffering from the heat. and as all outside was dried out the the insects outside discovered that there is s.th. fresh inside, they found my plants quite delicious and I had greenflies several times. I lost a lot of my violets in consequence of all the stress.

But new year, new luck .... here I go again and got myself some Kohleria rhizomes for a new start and soon I'll be able to place some orders for African violet leaves.

Hope you are all well,
cheers

Gabi

Thanks for your welcome :D Last week I ordered sphagnum moss, vermiculite and other stuff ... and have potted the first rhizomes of Kohleria .... and I really enjoy it.

Last year I also had some achimenes - and I found that in one room of my Apartment all the plants had produced rhizomes ... and in another room none had developed rhizomes. Guess, in the second room I have to put the plants that like heat

Just a small message to tell that I am still around, but I am very silent because I am struggeling with root mealybugs. My plants are really poor. I am trying to first reduce the number of bugs with pesticides and then restart my plants from leaves (the bugs are normally in the soil and not on the leaves). Older leaves are mostly reasonably, crowns and new growth are horrible.

I think that I have a fair chance to save most, but it might be the end for the precious vintage plant Happy Harold: of this one I have only a few small plants left which are so variegated that they have very little chlorophyl. They might not have enough strength to recover and I can't restart a plant from a small, entirely white leaf. I am very sorry for this one and will try as long as there is even a small part alive ...
