It is not exactly a houseplant - but I managed to keep this day lily on my balcony.

no fragrance at all - just good looking ;)

I do not have a great knowledge about day lilies but I believe most of them do not have a fragrance. But they are nice looking ..... and also tasty. I have a cook book with several recipes how to cook with day lilies.

Some of the wild species daylilies have a strong fragrance, especially in the evening. I actually grow several of them as well, but had to stop collecting daylilies very soon because I ran out of place. If you like the ones with fragrance, you should try to get the yellow-flowered species plants like H. lilioasphodellus. This particular one flowers earlier in the year than most cultivars and opens in the afternoon. In the evening it is at it's best, trying to attract moths! So a very good daylily for plant lovers who are working in daytime and only see wilting flowers most of the time ... I can send some cuttings or seedlings of this species after the winter. It is easy to grow from seed as well, but slow, takes several years before it starts flowering
