I have only one chirita variety like Gabi. During the hot summer days he was very strong . I love chiritas

Welcome maki01. Chiritas are really great indeed and I wouldn't miss the opportunity to get some other varieties.

I self pollinate all the flowers, we will see what will came from this.

The same happened here with the flowers I think it must be the heat only

Maybe, but maybe not.
I have some seedlings and one of them just opened blossom with a typical coloration. We will see. I self pollinate the albino flowers in any case. Second flower stalk open buds on my old tamiana and it has semi-albino flowers. Also I note that the flowers didn't drop after pollination, which is not typical.

It's a really stable species, and usually selfpollinates itself. I'm really curious what's coming up in the first generation seedling. Dilara had sown seeds, but as I remember all bloomed true.

I sow some tamiana seeds too, I was experimenting with intergeneric crosses, and it tuns out that the she just self pollinate, giving me a fake hopes but also giving me some very important dates:

Pollinating: 06.12.11 (I did it then and on the next morning I found the flower on my floor so this must be the date +-2/3 days)
Collecting seeds: 26-27.01.12 (2 dates because there was two seed pods)
Sowing: 27-28.01.12
Germinating: 07.02.12 (then i saw the first one)
First bloomed: 27.07.12

The seed pods mature quick, they self ripped, and they bloom very soon, so we will see in a half an year. I take this "It's a really stable species" as a challenge!

Ocasionally Primula tamiana has some irregular flowers with a petal too many or one fewer than the normal 5. Now it did something more spectacular: a star-shaped or in botaniocal terminology "peloric" flower! This is just one "wrong" flower, the plant is otherwise flowering entirely normal. But I thought that it is interesting to show anyway Because of the long tube-shape it was difficult to make a picture that is more or less in focus.

Laci, the white flowers didn't produce seeds but I have some from flowers with very pale blue lines, I had forgotten them until now.

This particular plant keeps growing peloric flowers, maybe one out of 10 flowers is peloric and untill now not more than one per flowers-stalk (together with normal flowers but opening somewhat later). I am suspecting that the plant is a chimera of some kind and will try to fix the trait of peloric flowers. One of the peloric flowers selfed, from this flower I have now a bunch of seedlings. Next I plan to set leaves, for which I plan to take the ones associated with the flower-stalk which produced a peloric flower.

I think both ways are largely a chance effect, and both take time. We'll see

Does anyone else have peloric flowers in Primulina tamiana?

I was growing Primulina tamiana before, but the flowers were ok. Now I'm also having it in my collection, since the gesneriad society's welcome pack contained a few seeds of this variety too
