Gabi, they require a lot of light, otherwise they become leggy. If the temperature doesn't go under 12-13 Celsius at night I put them outside with my Achimenes in a semi shade position.

Not all of the kohlerias go dormant in winter, if the circumstances are good enough, they won't go dormant at all.

Meine Kohleria steht auch in der Sonne.
Last winter I have put all my Kohlerias to sleep, and not all of them bloomed next summer. This winter I have left all of them on the window seals, I will see how they will be doing this summer.

Kohleria should not be left entirely to sleep for the winter (like Achimenes) - Kohleria have just cut, let only a few leaves (trimmed parts can be used as cuttings for propagation), and keep in quiescent state over the winter.

Last year some of mine Kohlerias also don't have blossom (grown from rhizomes)...
