OK, the list of violets is not very long and it is to me unclear in what order they appear. Also, pictures are very poor black and white scans which show virtually nothing. On the other hand, the information is very interesting: of the patented violets it gives a very detailed descriptions, including their origin. I just learned that it is incorrect that S. shumensis cannot be hybridized with other violets, as it is one of the plants which was used to produce the variety "Arctic Maiden" (of which I never heard before). So, definately interesting reading, but something for long winter evenings I guess ...
