Saintpaulia intermedia

Postby Lola » August 22nd, 2011, 7:46 pm

Saintpaulia intermedia (В. L. Burtt) = S. ionantha ssp. pendula clone intermedia
One of the 20 confirmed species of Saintpaulia. Grows upright and may be single-crowned or a trailer. S. intermedia has medium blue flowers and round, slightly serrated leaves which tend to be spooned. Intermedia derives from the Latin intermedius (intermediate or in between) in recognition of the plant's growth habit, which appears to be half way between an upright rosette and a trailer. First recorded discovery in the Usambara Mountains.

Michaela, is this the same plant (from me)? It looks to me like the flower shape differs! Lola's plant looks again similar to the one I have. I got mine from Isabell Olevall in 2010.
