Hello from Australia.

Postby Prismaticviolet » December 15th, 2017, 4:00 pm

Hi, my name is Joseph and I am from Australia. And I am a 22 year old male.

I grow a large variety of African violets and other gessies. In 2016 I lost all of my collection due to mite infection. I chose to update all my shelving to led’s (which I trailed and loved before the disaster). Then I waited till spring this year to get my collection going again.

Most of my collection are still babies as I prefer to grow from leaf rather than bring home plants. I have been growing for many years.

I look forward to meeting you all. I am on a couple of other forums, and many Facebook groups. One can never have too many violet friends :) :P :lool:

Hi Joseph,

I have been struggling with cyclamen mites for years as well until I found that you can kill off all mites from cut leaves by putting the leaves in warm water of 40'C for 15 minutes. All I had to do, is to restart all my plants ... Streptocarpus leaves become rather damaged in the process, but they still produce plantlets.

Welcome to the forum!
